Are We There Yet? | Linda Hummel-Shea Artspace | Northern Essex Community College, NECC | Haverhill, MA | 2020

Are We There Yet? is an installation of sculptural works in combination with photographic print techniques that was on view in early 2020 at Northern Essex Community College.  I have been teaching 3D Foundations and Sculpture at NECC for the last 7 years.  We have an amazing gallery space in the library on our Haverhill campus and bring in artists from around the world to exhibit and engage with the students. I had started this body of work in mid-2018 when casting small temple-like figures from glass at Penland School of Craft.  After a year-long response to those figures in the studio, the installation came together when this gallery site was offered in its entirety. The campus setting along with the informational vibe of the library heightened the sense of history and future of the objects. I look forward to the shift of what a different venue would bring to the work.
