Heritage Red | Sculpturefest at King Farm | Woodstock, VT | 2012
Francesca King Thomas left her family's hillside farm to the Vermont Land Trust in 1986. The 154 acres called King Farm is now being considered for acquisition by the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park. In conjunction with the acquisition and to bring attention to the beauty and history of this site an annual sculpture show has welcomed visitors to the land.
There are 10 buildings on this site and I was drawn to the Tent, c. 1906 to work with. In the Summer Guest House next to the tent, I found many artifacts from the family. In addition to books and trinkets, a box of spare metal roofing shingles became my tools, along with walks on the land.
