Recall | The Archer Gallery | The Archer School for Girls | Los Angeles, CA | 2013
The Gallery at Archer is a teaching gallery. For a Visiting Artist it is an engaging experience to work with students to install all aspects of an art exhibition. I had planned to "recall" my objects from To no end... to explore this different physical site. Instead it was the aesthetics of the academic environment that made this re-installation take shape. My background in math was very significant for the students and teachers and in turn made me think more consciously about its impact on the installation. The beauty of mathematics is that it gives us a symbolic vocabulary with which we attempt to define our very imprecise work. Art attempts to do the same thing. Both disciplines uncover more mysteries in the process of finding answers.
