Red Eye | Look Optical | Maynard Art Walk | Maynard, MA | 2015
The Maynard Art Walk is an annual event where the local businesses collaborate with artists and musicians for a public celebration. Look Optical is owned by a musician and there is a space set aside to hang artwork and for musicians to perform. Within this space is the eye chart and corresponding equipment which came to the fore in Red Eye, I was thinking about looking, measurement, limitations and play. In John Berger’s Ways of Seeing, he says “the relation between what we see and what we know is never settled”.
