The Archive | Three Notions of Work | STEAMworks | Scranton, PA | 2017
'The Archive' is a body of work I exhibited in a three person show called Three Notions of Work. Each artist represented different lines of inquiry with the common approach of endless questioning and having studied in graduate school together. My work in this show is a result of thinking about archive as a means of self-organizing. My archive is not to do with old work but rather as a method of work, an active archive. When I began work on this project I envisioned a system of boxes enumerated with an ordered code, labels – a method to translate what I had already created and articulate how I would move forward. Instead, I am making more objects, new objects using the materials I associate with archive. The much-needed disorder of the making is put in balance by the installation of the objects. Here the exhibit is the archive. .Click here for a glossary of terms.
